URL Canonicalization Tag Checker & Validator

Test your website's canonical tag configuration across all major URL variants. Our free tool checks and compares the apex (non-www) domain, www subdomain, trailing slash vs non-trailing slash URLs, and index files to ensure search engines recognize a single canonical source of truth, preventing duplicate content penalties.

What is URL Canonicalization?

Canonicalization is the technical process of forcing search engine indexes to merge duplicate or highly similar pages into a single, authoritative URL. If your website loads on both https://yoursite.com and https://www.yoursite.com, or both /about/ and /about, Google will view these as separate, competing pages. A link rel="canonical" tag declared in the HTML header explicitly directs crawlers to the correct master page.

How to use this tool:

  1. Type the URL you want to test in the search field.
  2. Click "Run Canonical Test."
  3. Check common variant redirects, view raw header responses, and confirm the matching link rel="canonical" tags.
